Financial institution — client onboarding

Onboarding with watchlist screening: from days to hours

Concept under validation: client and supplier onboarding with automatic document validation and restrictive watchlist screening (SARLAFT).

The challenge

Onboarding a client or a supplier at a financial institution requires reviewing the RUT (tax registry), the chamber of commerce certificate and the representatives’ ID documents, and screening restrictive watchlists as required by SARLAFT. Every step is manual and sequential: someone opens each document, checks validity dates and matches, and records the watchlist screening. The full cycle takes days, incomplete files bounce between areas, and the experience of whoever is trying to onboard suffers.

The proposed solution

A flow that delivers a complete, verified file to the approver:

  • Automatic document validation: extraction and verification of the RUT, the chamber of commerce certificate and the ID documents — validity dates, matching of legal name and tax ID.
  • Automatic watchlist screening as part of the same flow, with the result documented in the file (SARLAFT compliance).
  • Automatic return of anything incomplete or expired, with the detail of what is missing.
  • The approver receives the case complete, verified and with the alerts flagged.

Expected results

Preliminary figures, subject to the ongoing validation:

  • Onboarding cycle: from days to hours.
  • 100% of onboardings with document and watchlist verification.
  • The approver decides on complete files instead of chasing documents.
